Bristol Academy of Live Performing Arts

All courses are based at Caedmon Complex, in the heart of Thornbury, withdance studio, performance venue, recording studio and more. Classes are led by experienced musicians, performers and dancers all of whom are DBS checked and have a heart to see young people excel in the performing arts. What we do
BALPA operates on three ten week terms a year, but also runs holiday activities as well and will have industry masterclasses available at intervals throughout the year. There are shows at the end of Term 1 (Christmas) and Term 3 (Summer) plus many other performance opportunities such as Thornbury Carnival, Thornbury Christmas lights switch on and at local nursing homes. There may also be opportunities to take some exams and have evaluations through BALPA.
Current courses on offer are: Street Dance, Contemporary Dance and Musical Theatre. We also offer group singing lessons and individual lessons in dance (either street or contemporary), vocals, keyboard/piano and drums.
““My daughter has had classes at BALPA for a number of years and has really benefitted from the tuition and encouragement. BALPA always look out for lots of performance opportunities to build confidence and stage skills. I would recommend them to anyone whose child is interested in the performing arts.”
“BALPA is a fun and encouraging environment for my child. We’ve been attending classes for 5 years now. My daughter has learnt so much. It’s boosted her confidence and most of all she thoroughly enjoys her lessons every week.”
BALPA Young Volunteers
At BALPA we have are committed to training young people and giving them opportunities to learn and develop their skills. With this in mind, we have developed the BALPA young volunteers scheme for young people aged 14+ to come and assist in some of our classes and lessons. You will have an opportunity to work with our BALPA tutors to learn how to teach warm ups and cool downs, to learn how lessons are taught and to interact with our classes.
