BALPA Activity Days

Our BALPA activity days run in the school holidays for children from Reception all the way through to Year 6. The days typically run from 10am – 4pm and are held at Caedmon Complex our purpose built performing arts complex in Thornbury (next to Tesco). 

 

The days feature performing arts including street dance, drama and musical theatre plus craft activities, fun games and a healthy but fun lunch. Beginners and experienced performers welcome. Funding available for those on benefit related free school meals.  This summer if your child attends 6 or more days they will gain the South Glos Mini Stars Award.

BRAND NEW 4 - 5PM ADD ON!

We have an exciting opportunity during this summer’s activity days, for your child to gain a nationally recognised Arts Award, which is designed to help get children interested in the performing arts from a young age.

 

We are offering Arts Award sessions, at the end of each activity day, where our tutors and volunteers will work through awards booklets with the children, helping them draw, write or re-create in some way, what they have done during the day.

 

Year R to Year 2 – Discover Award

 

To achieve this award, children create a personal ‘arts log’ of their experiences.  This provides evidence of taking part in activities, researching artists or crafts people and their work, and sharing their art discoveries.

 

Year 3 to Year 6 – Explore Award

 

To achieve this award, children need to provide evidence covered in the Discover Award, plus a personal response about what has inspired them, create a piece of art work and share with others what they have enjoyed and achieved through completing their award.

 

Children will need to attend a minimum of 5 session to complete either award.  Upon completion, your child will receive a certificate from Trinity College London.

 

Cost: £30 per child, which covers all 5 sessions.  Funding is available for those on free school meals.  You can book your child's arts award here.

 

These days are subsidised by Inspire to ensure the cost is kept low. £17 per child per day.
